Murat Cem ORHAN

 

Turkish born conductor Murat Cem Orhan, graduate of the D.E.U State Conservatory in Izmir, Post-graduate of the Istanbul University State Conservatory and Brooklyn College of Music in New York where he studied both Opera Singing and Conducting. Last year made a successful Germany debut with Heidelberg Sinfonietta acclaimed by public and critics with Fazıl Say’s orchestral piece at the Heidelberg Spring Festival. Furthermore, he conduacted in Istanbul State Opera House, W.A. Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte arranged by himself for children. With Istanbul University State Conservatory Orchestra and Soloists he conducted W.A. Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte and D. Cimarosa’s Il Matrimonio Segreto.


Upcoming engagements include J. Brahms “Double Concerto” with Antalya State Symphony Orchestra, Mahler “Das Knaben Wunderhorn” with Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra. In addition, he will conduct a symphonic program with Izmir State Symphony Orchestra.

 

Recently he conducted Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra, Cukurova State Symphony Orchestra and Bursa Region State Symphony Orchestra.

 

He attended conducting masterclasses of Maestro Jorma Panula in Krakow, Maestro Alparslan Ertungealp in Budapest,

Maestro Michel Tabaschnik in Accademia Chigiana Musicale in Siena and Maestro Prof. Rengim Gökmen in Izmir KODA.

Currently Studying  with Maestro Antonio Pirolli in Mimar Sinan University State Conservatory.

 

At 2016, he conducted the Turkey Premiere of Fazıl Say's East-West Divan Song Cycle (Op.44) and The Ballad of “Gezi Park 3” (Op. 54) which was performed by Camerata Saygun Chamber Orchestra and world-wide known pianist Fazıl Say himself.

 

In addition of his conducting carrier he is a two times first prize winner of  N. F. Eczacıbaşı National Composing Competition. His compositions are played by State Symphony Orchestras in Turkey.

 

As an Opera Singer, he sung over 15 lead rolls both in US, Europe and Turkey. He attended Renato Bruson's masterclass in Accademia Chigiana Musicale in Siena. He  also studied with famous opera artists such as Raina Kabaivanska, Sherill Milnes, Ashley Putnam and Catherine Malfitano, Trish McCafferey.

 

Fluent in French, English and Italian, Orhan continues his works in Istanbul.
